10/20/05 Little River Replica
Donated to help with preservation of the original.
American Lawn Lights was closed for the week of October 15th to the 22nd, 2005
to visit and document numerous light houses in Maine. October 18th, we
were able to visit the Little River Light Station near Cutler Maine.
Captain Andrew Patterson of Bold Coast Tours provided the round trip boat ride
to the island located at the mouth of the Little River Harbor. While the
day had started off with sunny, bright blue skies, the clouds had rolled in
before we arrived on the island but we were still thankful that it wasn't
fog! We were given the tour of the tower and keepers house and got to see
first hand the amazing progress that has been made in the restoration of this
historic light station.
For those who may not know, the Friends Of Little River
Lighthouse, a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation has been restoring
this light station and has run short on donations of cash and labor. While
we would love to roll up our sleeves and pitch in labor with the rest of the
volunteers restoring this historic light station, the commute from New York
would kill us. What hopefully is the next best thing, is the donation by
American Lawn Lights of the Little River Lighthouse Replica at right to be used
for a fundraising raffle. After visiting its namesake, the Little River
Light Replica was presented to Tim Harrison, President of the American
Lighthouse Foundation and one of the driving forces in the restoration of this
light station. The replica can be found at the Museum of Lighthouse
History in Wells, Maine while the raffle is being organized. For more
information on the raffle and the ongoing restoration of the Little River Light,
