The Lewis Bay Lighthouse is also known as the Hyannis Inner Harbor Lighthouse and the Channel Point Lighthouse. It was built in 1976-77 by Kenneth Shaughnessy as a replica of the Brant Point Lighthouse on Nantucket Island. A local builder, Mr. Shaughnessy had a love of Nantucket and included the lighthouse in the construction of his summer home on Channel Point. The Lewis Bay Lighthouse differs from the Brant Point Lighthouse only with the addition of a third window in the tower and the use of white and black trim colors instead of Brant Point's green. The 26 foot tall wooden tower was established as a private aid to navigation in Hyannis's bustling Inner Harbor. The white conical shaped tower is topped by a black lantern that displays a flashing green light.
The Lewis Bay Lighthouse is located on private property and is best viewed from the Hyannis Inner Harbor area. All ferries entering or departing Hyannis Harbor will pass closely to the lighthouse located on Channel Point which sticks out into the north-west side of Lewis Bay.
